Hi! My name is Jasmine Parmar, welcome to our site! I am a third year Honours Life Sciences undergraduate student at McMaster University. I am a Vice President and writer of our blog, which focuses around research-based posts about men's health issues, addressing them, and how they impact society as a whole.

I joined Men’s Health Club because I was aware of the huge social stigma there is around Men's Health Issues, including men addressing their need for medical care. I found that society also contributes to this issue by keeping the traditional definition of 'being a man' or masculinity circling. This stigma created around this subject prevents men from seeking help and either directly or indirectly impacts their health.

I believe that it is unbelievably important to educate our community about the importance of prioritizing their health, and I believe that MHS can create a great platform to push this to happen. I hope to contribute to positive change in the realm of educating society, and hope to foster transparency around men’s mental health issues, and to help dissolve the traditional idea of masculinity. I believe that Men's Health Club can make an impact on normalizing seeking help and addressing mental illnesses like they are any other physical illness.

In our blog, I research health concerns that occur in men, spanning from relationships, to socializing, to mental health to physical wellbeing. By reading through new and old research in the scope of men’s health, and providing you with real research-based information, we take out all the complex and technical scientific terms and provide you with the facts. We hope to inspire you to live the best life you can, and to bypass social pressures and put yourself first.

I grew up in Pickering, Ontario, spending my summers hiking trails and biking with my friends, and my winters cooped up at piano or dance lessons. I spent the first half of my life an aspiring musician, because I loved the impact music had on people. It made their life better. Although my career aspirations changed in the second half of my life, one thing remained the same: I wanted to make a positive impact on people's lives. I'm delighted that I'm in a position now where I have the opportunity to tangibly do so, and that's what I hope to accomplish with Men's Health Club; to make a tangible, even if it's small, positive impact on other people's lives. I can't wait to work with the incredible team we have here at Men's Health Club, and I'm excited to see where this opportunity takes us!

Hi, I'm Jasmine, it's nice to meet you!
